Ecoconcierge: sustainability at your service

People are at the center of energy issues. So when it comes to energy efficiency in multifamily buildings, we believe a tenant-focused engagement strategy bridges the gap between building design and occupancy. We piloted this idea through a behavior-based program at Xavier, a sustainable multifamily building in an emerging Chicago neighborhood.

Jacqueline Freidel was the ecoconcierge program’s feet on the street—in other words, an in-house sustainability resource for Xavier residents. She leveraged smart meter data and facilitated social activities, such as interactive competitions and events, to spur action from this hard to reach market.

This program is designed to reveal the benefits of the smart grid to tenants and drive action, achieve energy savings from hard to reach customers, inform future pilot programs and scaling plans, and increase tenant satisfaction through sustainability.

From owner and design team support to behavioral tenant engagement

Seventhwave worked closely with Gerding Edlen on the Xavier property by providing energy modeling support and identifying financial incentives through the ComEd New Construction Service. We were excited to bridge the design and occupancy gap by working closely with residents to further support the energy performance of the property and educate residents on Xavier’s green features.
