- Discuss the essential components of a healthcare facility commissioning business plan to share with executive staff.
- Describe how to develop and achieve long-team energy efficiency goals using the retro-commissioning process.
- Describe how to develop a retro-commissioning plan for both small capital investment and large capital infrastructure, with focus return on investment.
- Explain the purpose of the owner's project requirements document.
- Describe how to prepare a commissioning scope.
- Outline commission authority selection requirements and explain how to evaluate operational objectives and develop monitoring and reporting dashboards.
- Use the ASHE Health Facilities Commissioning Handbook and the ASHE Health Facility Commissioning Guidelines as implementation and management tools.

We’ll show you how to develop a business plan that speaks to executive leadership—highlighting the value and demonstrating the return on investment of commissioning. A model for change management and successful implementation will be shared with a focus on rapid and simple payback associated with retro-commissioning. Large and small project investment case studies will demonstrate how both scenarios can pay off. Collaboration among healthcare organization representatives, design team, constructors and the commissioning agent will be emphasized and we’ll show you how commissioning can be scaled to various project scopes after executive confidence is built.

The registration fee for attending this full-day course is $225 (valued at $475), which includes continental breakfast, lunch and breaks. There is limited availability, so you are encouraged to register early.

Mark has been involved in healthcare facility management for 30 years. For the past 22, he has tirelessly championed the healthcare facilities commissioning process at Texas Children’s Hospital, M. D. Anderson Cancer Center and the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences.
Throughout his career, Mark has served as Texas Association of Health Facilities Management President, American Society for Healthcare Engineering of the American Hospital Association President, Arkansas Association of Healthcare Engineering Board of Director, ASHE Health Facilities Commissioning Team Lead and ASHE Health Facilities Commissioning Guidelines and Health Facilities Commissioning Handbook Task Force Chair. He now serves on the TAHFM Board of Directors, with emeritus status, and as the ASHE Healthcare Executive Leadership Council Chair.
Mark earned his bachelor’s degree in construction management and master’s degree with a concentration in service marketing from the University of Houston.
