As a result of this course you will be able to:
- Explain the RTU related requirements of the IECC.
- Select the appropriate RTU accessories to maximize performance and efficiency.
- Describe technologies such as economizers, demand controlled ventilation and energy recovery ventilation.
- Discuss the newest energy savings RTU option of multi-speed fan control.

HVAC system designers, engineers and contractors, energy efficiency specialists, facility managers, HVAC equipment manufacturer's representatives, facility engineers and anyone interested in learning more about commercial rooftop unit control strategies.

Packaged rooftop units are used to easily and effectively heat and cool more than 50 percent of all commercial buildings in the U.S. The question is: How can we make these units more efficient?
A recent U.S. Department of Energy study explored this question and the solution is summarized in four words: advanced rooftop unit control. Join us to review the DOE's recent findings, as well as the options available to save a significant amount of energy currently wasted by RTUs.
In the past 10 years, the average gas efficiency of RTUs has moved from 80 percent to just 82 percent and the cooling efficiency of the refrigeration circuits has improved slightly. Join us to learn how to improve the efficiency of existing and new RTUs.
The registration fee for attending this half-day training is $129, which includes continental breakfast. There is limited availability, so you are encouraged to register early.

Cancellations and Refunds
All cancellations are subject to a $25 administrative fee. We will refund 50% of the registration fee for cancellations received within two weeks of the training. Cancellations made within three business days of the training are non-refundable. If this program is not held for any reason, the Energy Center University's liability is limited to the refund of the program fee.

AFE This program supports a topic within the body of knowledge outlined by the Association for Facilities Engineering CPE/CPMM/CPS Certification Programs, and should count as 0.35 CEUs (3.5 hours) toward re-certification.

BOC This course offers up to 3.5 points for BOC certified operators
BOMI This training is approved for up to 3.5 continuing professional development points toward renewal of the professional designations offered by BOMI International.

Please note that in order to receive continuing education credits, you must be present for the entire training; partial credit cannot be given. In order to receive IACET credits, you will also need to participate in the assessment that takes place at the training; this will most often be in the form of quiz questions or a game.

In his current role at Temperature Equipment Corporation, Ryan is responsible for coordinating and/or instructing 150+ HVAC training courses per year. He has extensive experience with building automation systems, energy recovery ventilators, variable refrigerant flow, demand controlled ventilation and other energy conserving HVAC systems. He is a past president of the Illinois ASHRAE chapter and is actively involved in several local ASHRAE, gas and electric utility and USGBC committees. Ryan received his bachelor of science degree in general engineering from the University of Illinois.
