Smart management is key to successful adaptation in the built environment. We develop and apply research approaches that can be replicated around the country, enabling campuses and communities to develop adaptation strategies for building energy performance in a future impacted by climate change.
Adapting buildings to climate change impacts
This first-of-its-kind study uses climate data and energy modeling to predict location-specific building energy use in 2050 and identify strategies to adapt buildings to the projected impacts of climate change. We studied the impacts of future climate variability on energy consumption, demand and operating costs at NASA’s John C. Stennis Space Center in southern Mississippi.
